Summer time is a happy time for the children. They seem to enjoy the warm days where they can forget about school for a moment. They can finally let go of the the pent up frustrations from the school year, and have fun playing with their friends and engaging in all kinds of activities.

Summer time for many of you as parents takes on a totally different meaning. You also enjoy the warm weather festivities, but a major concern is the safety and well being of your children.

Here are some safety precautions to keep in mind, to keep the children alert and aware of their surroundings without stressing them out.

Watch the traffic and look both ways before crossing the street: Despite the laws that are designed to ensure safety of pedestrians, some drivers do not obey the rules of the road. Here are some things to look for.

Be aware of drivers who are busy texting and talking on cell phones, or simply not paying attention to the persons in the cross walk.

Drink plenty of water to avoid dehydration: Drinking plenty of water is essential to maintain normal body function. It’s easy to drink pops and other cool liquids and not drink enough water during hot and sweaty days. Remaining vigilant about the amount of water you consume daily goes a long way to preserving your health.
