Take the first step in faith. You don’t have to see the whole staircase, just take the first step. – Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.
Did you master all of your goals last year?
Did you exceed your goals, or do you find yourself looking at the same goals year after year?
Do you start each year with momentum, but find it challenging trying to make it across the finish line?
If that’s you, then you are not alone. If you want your circumstances to change, you may want to try approaching your goals differently.
It was Steven Covey, an American author who said, ” The key is not to prioritize what’s on your schedule but to schedule your priorities.”
This quote inspired me to develop a 7-step action plan to help you move forward on your goals with ease.
Make a to-do list in order of their importance: List the top priority items first. Do whatever it takes to get it done, before moving on to the next item on the list. If you can only complete one task each day, that’s progress you can be proud of.
Give yourself a deadline: Setting deadlines helps you visualize your end results. Try to avoid setting deadlines that are unrealistic. Sometimes we are so excited about getting things done, that we put more on ourselves than we can handle successfully. This can cause disappointment and stress. You want to avoid stress at all costs. You want your journey to be an enjoyable one, therefore set realistic deadlines that you know you can accomplish with ease.
Make a plan: Organize your thoughts and write them down. Decide what you are going to do, and how you are going to execute your plan.
Track your progress at regular intervals: This can be done daily, weekly, monthly or quarterly. Check off items from your list as soon as they are complete.
Find an accountability partner: Choose someone who cares enough to be honest with you, and is there to encourage you when needed. Oh, yeah there’s an individual in your network who is a tailor made partner for you. If you ask, they will be happy to support you.
Reward yourself for completing your goals: Everyone deserves to be celebrated for their dedication and hard work, but only when your task has been completed. No Cheating!!!
Move on to the next item on your list. Then rinse and repeat the process. In case you don’t complete all of your goals in a specified period of time, applaud yourself for following through and putting forth the effort. Remember the old adage that says, ” If you try and don’t succeed, try, try again.”
If you have questions about creating your action plan, schedule a strategy session so we can get you back on track to accomplishing your goals with ease.
