New Beginnings

“Change can be scary, but you know what’s scarier? Allowing fear to stop you from growing, evolving, and progressing”. -Mandy Hale

If you find yourself feeling restless, sluggish, or bored, maybe it’s time to begin something new. New beginnings are a great way to close out the old, and move on in a healthier, refreshing direction. While new beginnings can seem scary (every change comes factory equipped with a tiny bit of fear after all). They aren’t as hard as they initially seem and the benefits often outweigh the risk.

So as you ponder and think about the possibilities and opportunities that await you, ask yourself these questions:

[1] What Are Your Highlights From The Past Year?

One way to move forward with a new plan is to look back at the old plan. Knowing what worked during the past 12 months can help you determine how you’d like to spend the next 12 months. As you reflect on the past, pay special attention to the moments when you feel most grounded, authentic, challenged, refreshed, and fulfilled. Write down everything you remember about these special moments.

[2] What Do You Really Want?

The number one reason people don’t get what they want is that they may not be crystal clear about what they really want. The number two reason is they may know what they want but, afraid to go after it. What is it that you want so badly that it scares you? Excites you? Gives you goosebumps? Be sure to acknowledge your feelings honestly, whether you do something about it or not. Take the time to write it down, because when you know what lights you up, your intentions naturally shifts and your mind starts working to make it come to reality.

[3] What Does New Beginning Mean To You?

New beginnings are everywhere, from the sunrise every morning to the changing of the seasons. New homes, new jobs, new life, new schools or other possibilities for the children. New beginnings mean something different for all of us. What might a new beginning look like for you? Write it down.

If you are ready to shake things up a bit, and add some zest to your life going forward, spend some time on these three questions. It is up to you to start something new in the new year, and fortunately, it doesn’t take a lot of effort to do so. Small shifts in your thinking can trigger the new beginning you desire.
