Recently, I discovered an interesting article about how a group of high school journalism students used the power of the press to force their principal to resign.
Dissatisfied with their newly assigned principal’s performance, a group of high school students questioned her credentials, and launched an investigation into the principal’s background.
For the sake of the student body and their community, they were willing to risk their academic standing to prove they were right. They used the school newspaper to amplify their voices and share their concerns with their readers.
As a result of their thorough investigative reporting, these curious, skilled, future reporters found incriminating evidence, that had been overlooked by the principal selection committee. As a result of their findings and pressure from their readers, the principal resigned.
What would you have done if you were a student who believed your principal wasn’t qualified to lead your school? Would you sit quietly by afraid to speak up and share your concerns, or would you be bold enough to go all out to disqualify your boss?
If you found value in this article, share it with your friends and leave a comment below. I would love to read your thoughts.
